I am a democrat with six years under my belt. In general my state and I lean toward the conservative side, my state moreso than myself. In fact a lot of times my state and I disagree on certain issues, so I just go with the overall Democratic opinion. I pretty much only got in office this long by donating large sums of money to certain drug dealers and Mafia members who assured my success at the poles by volunteering to assist with the ballots.

Bill S.1 concerned a national test that would be made mandatory for advancement beyond eighth grade and high school, as well as determining whether a student would receive government college money. I voted for this bill, in alignment with my party’s policies, even though my state in general urged me not to. The majority of the Senate liked it though, and thus is passed.

Bill S.2 forbade the importation of all foods and other products normally found in supermarkets unless packaged in such a way as to promote a cleaner environment and encourage recycling. I took a stance with my political party, agreeing with this Bill, and thus voted for it. My state wasn’t all that fond of my choice, but didn’t complain too much. During the debate many important points were brought up, but none of them effected me very much. In the end my choice was aligned with my party’s stand on the issue. The rest of the Senate agreed with me and this Bill was passed.

Bill S.3 involved allowing females into combat situations. During the heated debate it became apparent to me that in all fairness, there is no reason not to allow women to hold positions that put them in danger, just the same as for a man. My party in general agreed with this. Though I voted for this Bill, the general populace of the Senate did not approve of it, and it was voted down.

I tend to think of myself as a Partrisan, with no mind of my own I simply go with whatever it is that my party desires. Most of the time my state disagrees with the way I vote, but they put me here and I intend to uphold the policy that I believe in. Together we stand, and being unified in a party makes us strong, even if some of our views are slightly different.
